You don't have to apologize for what you look like, who you are, the size or shape of your body, the foods you eat, none of it. As your therapist, I'm here to offer compassionate space and hold up a mirror — so you can learn to see yourself the way I do.

Together, we'll explore family and societal conditioning, take doable steps toward healing, and develop a kinder relationship with your body and mind. And therapist disclosure warning — I've been in your shoes. I know what it's like to grow up with the toxic media of the early 2000's and to see my worth residing only in my appearance.

The problem with always wanting to shrink ourselves is it shrinks our lives. Through counselling, it's my hope that you can feel more and more comfortable taking up space so you can experience life as you were meant too.

You deserve to take up space, too

My approach

Emotion-focused. I see symptoms as once helpful ways to cope with painful feelings. In therapy, we'll build tolerance for difficult feelings and process emotions and past experiences, so coping strategies will be less and less necessary.

Body-based. As the saying goes, the body keeps the score. We'll build a relationship with your body, as to see your body as a powerful ally in healing; garnering the wisdom your body has for you.

Relational. A safe, supportive, and authentic relationship is the foundation of therapy. As your therapist, I aim to bring my full, real self to therapy, so you can feel comfortable doing the same. And as a note, this often takes time!

Anti-oppressive. Our struggles do not occur within a vacuum, they occur within context. I believe it's important to make this explicit throughout therapy, as to not blame ourselves for systemic issues. In counselling, we'll name and unhook from oppressive systems, and move toward greater community care.

Tay (she/her) is a Registered Clinical Counsellor living on Lekwungen territory, in Victoria, BC.

She believes we all have an inner guidance system leading us toward our most whole, expressed self. And through trauma, unmet childhood needs, societal expectations, and oppression, we fracture from our inner guidance to survive.

Tay is here to support your mental and emotional well-being, to help you realign with your inner guidance. She's your therapist if you want to nurture your inner child, need support slowing down and tapping in, and feel the nudge to go deeper in your healing process.
